Motor modalities developed during usual locomotion in lower limb amputee patients

This CIFRE thesis is a follow-up to the GRAAL project (Gait Rehabilitation Analysis for Amputee Locomotion) led by the LAMIH SHV department and whose  objective was to improve long-term follow-up of amputees with locomotion loss.

Following on from this project, the J. Calvé Functional Rehabilitation Center (CRRF) (Hopale Foundation) has included assessment elements relating to quantified gait analysis in its clinical protocol for monitoring transfemoral amputee patients, and has been the driving force behind continuing, in collaboration with the LAMIH SHV team, the study initiated during the GRAAL project. The main aim of this thesis is to quantify the evolution of a cohort of transfemoral amputees when walking on flat ground and in constraining everyday situations such as fast walking and walking on slopes. In particular, the aim is i) to quantify the evolution of biomechanical gait parameters in relation to the elements of the clinical assessment after a one-off stay in a rehabilitation center and at 6- and 12-month follow-up, ii) to characterize the compensatory strategies used by amputees when walking in constraining everyday situations compared with a healthy population, and finally iii) to characterize the use of a technical walking aid for amputees as a function of the intensity of support exerted on it.
