Academics4Rail
Building a scientific community of excellence of European researchers on innovative rail topics
.The Europe's Rail program (ERJU: Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking) is the successor to Shit2Rail. It supports rail research and innovation to make the EU's rail network more integrated, sustainable and reliable.
The Academics4Rail project is a contribution to this. It aims to create a network of excellence of researchers for the large-scale exchange of scientific knowledge in order to strengthen, extend and optimize the research and innovation capabilities of the railway sector. Building on the existing EURNEX scientific community, an enlarged network is proposed with the ambition of focusing on the specific scientific needs of Europe's Rail program. This network will seek to develop a holistic, multi-level approach to measuring the impact of a substantive research program and its individual components. In this environment, the Acédemics4Rail project's research focuses on 6 themes associated with 6 doctoral projects:
- Aerodynamics of high-speed freight trains
- Electromagnetic compatibility on different AC electrification systems
- Additive manufacturing (AM) for reprofiling rail wheels worn by use
- Digital communications for virtual coupling
- Pronostics and condition management for rail maintenance
- Driving assistance
