thiCk BOnded Joint under Complex lOAding

Behavior of thick bonded joints under complex loads.

Bonding represents an important tool for industrial competitiveness in many sectors, where it is tending to supplant traditional assembly methods. The development of new adhesives, new processes and new control techniques has focused much attention in recent years on making bonding ranges more reliable. Tools for characterizing and modeling the mechanical behavior of bonded interfaces have also been proposed to make structural bond design more robust. However, this work needs to be continued to make these tools more generic and achieve a difficult compromise between physical content and numerical cost. The present project addresses this issue by taking into account the combined effect of joint thickness and non-proportionality of mechanical loading on the cracking of a bonded interface.
