Clean and efficient biomass combustion
Development of an innovative biomass boiler for clean energy production with high energy performance.
The project concerns the development of an innovative biomass boiler for clean energy production (in terms of low concentrations of soot and their precursors, PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) in the exhaust) with high energy performance. Based on the complementary expertise of the partner laboratories, laser-induced incandescence optical measurements, sampling coupled with GC-MS analysis, modeling of PAH oxidation kinetics, heat transfer calculations and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) will be used to understand the complex mechanisms involved in soot and PAH oxidation.
