An integration day for students in the History Master's program (History and International Valuation and History Media and Mediation):
Students from the History and Cultural Enhancement and History Media and Mediation masters programs were on hand to visit the Médiathèque during their integration day.
On Thursday September 6, all M1 students in the History Master's program were welcomed by the Valenciennes Municipal Archives. They first attended a lecture by G. Brokaert on the organization of public archives in France and the missions of an archivist today. The students then enjoyed a privileged visit to the Bibliothèque des Jésuites, one of the few libraries of this style to survive in France in its original state.
After a convivial moment to exchange ideas and meet each other, our students were able to work successively in three workshops: a prints workshop, a visit to the archive repositories-presentation of the collections and finally a workshop around the exceptional items held in the Municipal Archives. Our students are now more at ease when it comes to tackling study projects on subjects as varied as heritage, culture and history. Many thanks to the Archives municipales for their warm welcome!
