The academic unit Economics, History, Geography, Societies (EHGS)
The Economics, History, Geography, Societies (EHGS) academic unit is a component of the Societies and Humanities Institute (ISH) training offer.
A rich and varied range of training courses mainly on the Tertiales campus (Valenciennes)
The Economics, History, Geography, Societies academic unit (UA EHGS) is mainly the result of a desired rapprochement between, on the one hand, training in economic and social administration (AES), economics and sociology and, on the other hand, training in history and geography at UPHF. It is added teachings focused on social intervention, tourism and heritage.
The Societies and Humanities Institute has enabled these courses to come together around cross-cutting axes and to create a real porosity between the courses, the teams and the pedagogical projects. The particularity of the academic unit is that it offers general courses such as the Economic and Social Administration degree (AES), the Economics degree and the Social Sciences degree in History and Geography, as well as more professional courses such as the Professional Social Intervention degree (IS). The UA EHGS also offers a large number of master's degree courses that develop work-study programs (Territory Management and Local Development major, History major).
The vast majority of courses under the UA EHGS are located in Valenciennes, mainly on the Tertiales campus. However, several training courses relating in particular to history and archaeology are positioned on the Cambrai campus.
A strong link with the Law and Public Administration (DAP) academic unit on the Tertiales campus.
Within the ISH, the Economics History Geography Societies academic unit (UA EHGS) is closely linked to the Law, Public Administration academic unit (UA DAP). In fact, most of the courses, sometimes shared between the two academic units, take place on the same campus in Les Tertiales. The directors of the two academic units, EHGS and DAP, have their offices next to each other on the fourth floor of the Tertiales building. They frequently work together with the support of a shared administrative service.
.
Not all the courses of the UA Economics History Geography Societies are located on the Tertiales site in Valenciennes. The UA EHGS thus offers two Social Sciences licenses on the Cambrai site:
- The Social Sciences degree course History Archaeology Heritage Environment (HARPE) is accessible from the first year. It aims to acquire fundamentals in History, Geography and initiate to new disciplines such as archaeology Egyptology, art history, economic history, cultural mediation, paleography (medieval and modern), archivistics.
- The license Sociales course Archaeology and Archaeological Mediation (AMA) is intended for students with a Bac+2 level. It is intended for students wishing to discover and deepen the archaeological disciplines.
