The Institute of Judicial Studies (IEJ)
The Institute of Judicial Studies of Valenciennes offers, within the framework of initial training, preparation for the entrance exam to the regional professional training center and the organization of this exam, as well as professional training of a legal nature open to legal professionals.
Training for the CRFPA exam
The Institute of Judicial Studies of Valenciennes has a double vocation:
First, it prepares candidates for this exam by offering them an annual preparation, which takes place mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the end of the day.
Then, it organizes the entrance exam to the regional center for professional training of lawyers (CRFPA). The IEJ of Valenciennes offers two formulas:
- a registration for the preparation including the right to take the exam;
- an exam registration known as "open application."
Objectives
The Institute of Judicial Studies of Valenciennes has a dual purpose:
First, it prepares candidates for the entrance exam to the Regional Center for Professional Training of Lawyers by offering them an annual preparation.
Secondly, it organizes the entrance exam to the Regional Center for Professional Training of Lawyers.
Training Introduction
The course outline has been redesigned to take into account the recent reform of the examination system. It includes lectures and galops.
The lectures aim, on the one hand, to discover or recall the methodology of the legal exercises of the exam and, on the other hand, to deepen and update knowledge. In addition, some thematic sessions will be offered.
> Methodology sessions
Methodology sessions are offered for all types of exercises likely to be on the exam.
A greater number of hours are devoted to the method of the summary note insofar as candidates have in principle never had the opportunity to practice this exercise during their university studies.
- methodology of the summary note: 5 hours
- methodology of other legal exercises: 2 hours - methodology of the Grand oral: 5 hours
> Refresher and in-depth sessions
Candidates having in principle already acquired a solid foundation in the subjects of the various exam tests, the sessions aim to deepen and update knowledge.
Is thus proposed to each candidate sessions covering all the subjects of the exam:
- Law of Obligations: 30 hours;
- specialty practical case: 30 hours per subject; - procedural subject: 20 hours per subject;
- freedoms and fundamental rights: 30 hours;
- language: 10 hours.
In addition, it is proposed that each candidate perform several galops d'essai per eligibility test and oral training.

- 3 language orals
The model includes, in accordance with articles L. 124-1, L. 124-3, D. 124-1 and D. 124-2 of the Education Code, the option for a student to complete a period of internship, giving rise, at the end of the internship, to a report defended before a jury.
Training hours
The training includes 202 hours per student over the year.
- 132 hours of classes
- 70 hours of training (written and oral) .
Nota Bene:
- 110 hours of lectures are counted in CM
- 22 hours of lectures (methodology and language) and 70 hours of training are counted in TD

Students in Master 1 or Master 2 of Law

Fees
The IEJ offers for the start of the 2021-2022 academic year two formulas:
- "Preparation and examination" formula: 400 euros
. This formula opens access to all IEJ preparations as well as to the moodle and allows to take the exam at the IEJ of Valenciennes. The registration gives the beneficiary the student status.
- "Open application" formula: 180 euros
. This formula allows you to take the exam at IEJ Valenciennes without following the preparations offered by IEJ. Registration as an open application does not confer student status.

Professional training
The IEJ of Valenciennes offers year-round training courses for legal professionals in particular (lawyers, notaries, bailiffs, company lawyers...).
Rates
Trainings can be paid per unit according to variable rates depending on the duration of the training: 3 hours: 75 euros | 4 hours: 100 euros | 7 hours: 140 euros | 8 hours: 160 euros
IEJ also offers several subscription packages:
- subscription "ethics"
300 euros: junior lawyers (with less than 2 years at the Bar) €350: senior lawyers (with more than 2 years at the Bar); - subscription "unlimited"
This formula provides access to all training offered by IEJ
Payment for the training must be made no later than the day of the training by check payable to " UPHF Accounting Officer."
Schedules
Trainings are held primarily on Fridays.
They are conducted in half-day (3 or 4 hours) or full-day (7 or 8 hours) sessions.
Register at the institute
The Institute of Judicial Studies (IEJ) offers two modes of enrollment: enrollment in the preparation for the entrance exam to the Regional Center for Professional Training of Lawyers (CRFPA) including a right to take the exam or enrollment as an open application.
.Enrollment Periods
This year, registration for the Institute of Judicial Studies is from October 17 to December 16, 2022.
Registration Requirements
Enrollment at IEJ is open to students enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a Master's degree in Law or to holders of one of these degrees (art. 11 of the amended law of December 31, 1971).
Enrollment procedures
The registration packet is available for download:
- application file for registration to prepare for the entrance exam to the Regional Center for Professional Training of Lawyers (CRFPA);
- application form for registration as an open application;
- file to be withdrawn from Mrs. Laura Carpentier (office 503, Tertiales building).
Registration fee
Payment is by check only to the order of: "UPHF Accounting Officer."
Fees vary depending on the option chosen:
- "Preparation and examination" formula: 400 euros

> Attention
Registration for preparation as part of continuing education (employee or job seeker who has stopped their university course for more than two years) is subject to special pricing.
