La Nuit du Droit
The ISH, the Judicial Court and the Valenciennes Bar Association have joined forces, under the aegis of the Constitutional Council, to organize the Nuit du Droit, on October 02, 2024.
La Nuit du Droit 2025 edition
Since its inception, La Nuit du Droit has offered the public a unique opportunity to discover the world of law in a fun and accessible way.
On Thursday, October 2, the Institut Sociétés et Humanités' Faculty of Law and Public Administration hosted the Nuit du Droit, co-organized with the Valenciennes Judicial Court and Bar Association, under the aegis of the Constitutional Council, in the presence of ISH Director Jérôme Maati and UPHF governance.
Three cases, three views
The large audience (nearly 300 people) had to judge three cases illustrating everyday justice: small cases in terms of the sums involved, but often significant for those faced with them, and often representing their only opportunity to encounter justice.
Like any judge called upon to decide these cases, the public had access to the case documents and heard the pleadings of the parties or their lawyers.
At the heart of conciliation
It was also an opportunity to discover how, in this type of case, conciliators try to bring the parties together in order to avoid a trial. Numerous exchanges took place between the audience and magistrates, lawyers and teacher-researchers, giving everyone a better understanding of how our justice system works.
A date has already been set for Nuit du Droit 2026!
