Jérôme Maati, new director of the Institut Sociétés et Humanités

On June 20, 2025, Jérôme Maati was elected director of UPHF's Institut Sociétés et Humanités (ISH) for five years.

Strengthening UPHF's Humanities and Social Sciences cluster

On June 20, 2025, Jérôme Maati, Associate Professor of Management and Management Sciences at the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF), was elected for five years to head the Institut Sociétés et Humanités (ISH), one of the university's three structuring institutes.

Lecturer at the Université de Picardie, then at UPHF, he passed the national competitive examination for the agrégation de l'Enseignement supérieur and joined the Université de Lille, where he was deputy director of the IAE. He returns to UPHF in 2019 to head the CRISS department of the LARSH laboratory.

As a specialist in corporate financial governance, Jérôme Maati's research focuses on board efficiency, the architecture of directors' networks, banking governance, the management of voting rights in corporate groups and the quality of accounting information. He has also sat on several national bodies, including the Conseil National des Universités, and acts as an expert for the HCERES.

His election testifies to a strong desire to strengthen UPHF's Humanities and Social Sciences cluster, in a dynamic of openness, innovation and dialogue between disciplines.

To support Jérôme Maati throughout this mandate, Valérie Richardot has been elected deputy director.

Aware of the major challenges facing us collectively - the transformation of teaching practices, the demands of internationalization, the evolution of student populations, the growing importance of external evaluation - I am convinced that the ISH has a strategic and leading role to play in the development of the UPHF.
