L'entre-deux, une recomposition des représentations. Transdisciplinary and cross-border perspectives

Edition edited by Edwige Camp-Pietrain

Texts and Contexts, vol. 19, no. 1, July 2024

The in-between, a space delimited by two things, contains an opening, a distance of variable length, which leads to recompositions, mutations in individual and collective representations.
This volume explores individual trajectories, linked as much to shifts between social classes, social and cultural milieus as to changing roles between spaces in everyday life. The "in-between" forces each person to deal with the singular and the collective, the world of departure and the world of arrival. It also appears in the mode of narration (notably in biographical narrative, poetry), or in visual representations (series heroes, hybrid forms of abstraction).
This volume also contains analyses at the level of societies, shaped by memories of past tensions, relations of domination, colonizations, wars, as much as by the present, constituted by interests, power relations, and the actors representing them. The in-between can then incite action, giving rise to demands for autonomy or even independence. It is also expressed through language, which conveys a cultural memory and is built on social realities. Interactions between contact zones, whether geographical or social, produce recompositions.
These various topics are approached in a transdisciplinary and cross-border manner.

This issue of Texts and Contexts gathers together a selection of papers presented as part of the CRISS department's Axis 3, both during the seminar designed and led by Nicolas Balutet, and the study day on the figure of the transclass, co-organized with Edwige Camp-Pietrain, to which other articles are added.
