The universe conceived by the two great "utopians" Paul Scheerbart and Bruno Taut is configured as an articulated organism where motifs are woven that could be grouped under key words such as : transparency, shared space, community, cosmic vision of the stage, "botanical theater"... Red thread and common denominator, the great theme of the Light, which "illuminates", literally and metaphorically, their thought and their practices.

The talk will offer a synthesis of my research, which has addressed the theatrical side of Scheerbart's and Taut's work, and the actuality of these "visions." The concept of a shared space between the performer and the spectators, the transparency as a declination of light but also as an emblem of the rupture of the barriers between inside and outside, the opening on the "garden" of the world; and again the relation between the materiality of the stage and the immateriality of the light, at the basis of so many experiences of "immersive" theater.
