In the Physical Measurements program, students explore biosourced concrete

As part of their 2nd year project in BUT Measures Physics at Maubeuge, students explored biosourced concrete, a sustainable and ecological building material.

After characterizing the constituents and optimizing the composition, they manufactured specimens that complied with standards. The students produced:

  • mechanical tests (compression, bending, hardness),.
  • of non-destructive testing (vibration testing),
  • the microstructural and chemical characterizations (scanning electron microscope equipped with an EDX probe),
  • the microstructural and chemical characterizations (scanning electron microscope equipped with an EDX probe)
  • thermal measurements, for which they have developed a device to monitor the thermal response of biosourced concrete slabs and thus compare their performance with that of conventional concrete.

Congratulations to Jérôme, Shaïna and Lauryna for completing this project, which opens up many new perspectives! 😊
