GIMEOLEX : victory for the team of Valenciennes
GIMEOLEX : Congratulations to the GIM team from Valenciennes for its 1st place !

Our team charged the most batteries, the fastest
At the extreme GIMEOLE challenge (GIMEOLEX), GIM Valenciennes competed with 2 models:
- 1 wind turbine equipped with photovoltaic foldable panels
- 1 airborne wind turbine that is lightweight and fits in a backpack

Bravo to Adrien, Martin, Maxence, Antoine! Thanks to Audrey, Fahmi, Jérôme, the teachers of the department Industrial Engineering and Maintenance (GIM) who accompanied the student team during the project and up to the top of Parmelan!"
The Challenge
1. Make or improve a #wind turbine: lightweight, easily disassembled / reassembled and transportable.
2. From Annecy: transport disassembled equipment and the necessary equipment to the bivouac.
3. Climb to the top of the Parmelan in Haute-Savoie (altitude: 1856m) to test the wind turbines.
4. Produce energy.
The wind turbines could eventually enable the production of electricity to power mountain refuges.
EVALUATION
A measuring station with several anemometers, installed at the Parmelan refuge, measured wind speed and direction in real time. The teams were evaluated in particular on the energy production of their wind turbine.
PREPARATION
Supervised by the GIM department teachers, the students identified the site characteristics (weather, reconnaissance of the rugged terrain, ...), lightened the supports, optimized the transport, made the electrical connections more reliable, and did some tests on the Raismes slag heap.
The GIMEOLE extreme challenge (GIMEOLEX) is organized by the GIM departments of France, in partnership with the FFCAM - Club Alpin Français
