GIM EOLEX: team sport and science

Event organized by the Valenciennes and Littoral Côte d'Opale IUTs, with the communes of Hardelot and Le Portel

A unique sporting, scientific and collaborative challenge, coming soon to the Opal Coast!

From June 11 to 13, 150 Industrial Engineering and Maintenance (GIM) students from IUTs across France are expected to take part in an innovative competition combining sport, science and collaboration.

In the run-up to the competition, participating students have adapted existing means of energy production or created them themselves. These may include wind turbines, solar panels, etc.

A multi-stage challenge

  • Starting in Hardelot, a 25km orienteering race takes students, loaded down with their gear, over the cliffs of the Côte d'Opale, through forests and dunes.
  • Arrived at Le Portel, the participants set up camp and the means of energy production.
  • For 2 days, energy production tests follow one another, the performance of the installations is measured and the students have to show ingenuity and collaboration to optimize energy production using different means (wind turbines, solar panels, ...).
  • Alongside the technical events, the students take part in outdoor activities thanks to Le Portel town hall, which makes its infrastructure and animation teams available.
  • On the final day, an assessment of each team's energy production ranks the various competitors.

We wish good luck to all participants and in particular to Erwan Collot, Ethan Boulanger, Zacharie Peters, Yanis Capron, Gautier Rasset, Alexandre Delecroix, Hugo Landmann, Paul Parent, 1st and 2nd year students of BUT Génie Industriel et Maintenance at IUT de Valenciennes.
