The CERAMATHS Mathematics Department seminar will welcome Hugo Parada (University of Toulouse) at 2pm, Thursday March 13, 2025, for the following talk:

.

Boundary observation of the KdV equation on graphs

In this talk, we study the exact controllability/observability of a system of N linear Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equations arranged in a star
. graph. First, we study the well-posedness of the proposal using sharp Kato smoothness property. Then, we study controllability by combining the Neumann and Dirichlet controls and show that observability is true for all L > 0 for some configurations. However, in other cases, is only possible when L is outside a specific critical set where controllability fails. This study is reduced to determining when certain functions, associated with this spectral problem, are entire.

This talk is based on joint work with R. A. Capistrano-Filho and J. S. da Silva.
