The CERAMATHS Mathematics Department seminar will welcome Stéphanie Lohrengel (Université de Reims - Champagne Ardenne) at 2pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025, for the following talk:
.On the reconstruction of electrical properties of the human brain in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Reconstruction of the electrical parameters (permittivity and conductivity) of biological tissues in the human body is an important topic in medical imaging, as these parameters contain information about possible pathologies. They also contribute to the reliable calculation of the specific absorption rate (SAR) required to ensure compliance with safety standards for MRI equipment.
In this talk, we formulate the reconstruction of electrical properties as an inverse problem for which we will give an identifiability result. We then present a CSI "Contrast Source Inversion" method based on finite element discretization for numerical solution in academic and realistic configurations.
