The CERAMATHS Mathematics Department seminar will welcome Pammella Queiroz (Federal Institute of Campina Grande, Brazil) at 2pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024, for the following talk:
.Asymptotic limit and stability of an elastic system
In 1988, Lagnese-Lions assumed that the asymptotic limit of the Mindlin-Timoshenko system converges to the Von-Kármán system. From there, a series of papers related to this conjecture were published, and although several advances have been made, so far we have only partial answers to this problem. The aim of my talk is to discuss some results on the asymptotic properties of the famous Mindlin-Timochenko system, which describes the vibration of beams and plates when the torsional modulus of elasticity tends to infinity, giving a definitive answer to the Lagnese-Lions conjecture. In addition, I intend to answer other important questions about the asymptotic stability of the system, by generalizing some known results.
