The CERAMATHS Mathematics Department seminar will welcome Delphine Bresch-Pietri (École des Mines de Paris) at 2pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023, for the following talk:
.Stability and Control of Linear Difference Equations and Hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations
In this talk, we will consider a specific type of delay systems, namely linear difference equations, rarely studied in the literature. We will examine their close connection with systems of linear hyperbolic partial differential equations and the corresponding control challenges. We will present some hyperbolic partial differential equation contexts in which stabilizing control laws could be designed by reformulating the dynamics using a difference equation. We will also show how this reformulation can be used to express an inverse Lyapunov theorem (input-state stability) for systems of hyperbolic partial differential equations. This presentation draws on recent work with Jean Auriol (CNRS, L2S).
