A biomimetic strategy against insects

Antonella Bandiera is Assistant Professor in Molecular Biology in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Trieste, Italy.

Her research activity is based on a strong biochemical and biotechnological background related to cloning, nucleic acids manipulation, recombinant protein expression and purification.

Her work focuses on exploring the potential of the HELPs (Human Elastin-like Polypeptides) elastin-inspired biopolymers encoded by synthetic genes as basic components of innovative biomaterials for biotechnological and biomedical applications.

She will present how this recombinant platform can be adapted to develop unconventional antibacterial strategies.
