Young CERAMATHS doctor wins Blaise Pascal prize

Damien Galant, who prepared his mathematics thesis at CERAMATHS and (co-tutored) at the University of Mons, and defended it at the end of 2024, has just been awarded the Blaise Pascal prize.

The Blaise Pascal Prize is awarded each year for a thesis in mathematics, alternating between fundamental and applied mathematics. It is awarded by an international jury, convened by the Blaise Pascal mathematics laboratory (CNRS and Clermont Auvergne University).

The 2025 winner is Damien Galant. His thesis was prepared at CERAMATHS under the supervision of Colette De Coster, and at the University of Mons under the supervision of Christophe Troestler. It was defended at UPHF on December 9. It focused on the nonlinear Schrödinger equation on metric graphs, a subject at the frontier of partial differential equations, calculus of variations and spectral geometry.

Damien is now a post-doctoral researcher at Brown University, USA. Congratulations to him!
